COLD CASH
The 23rd Annual Salary Survey reflects the value put on employees in the face of challenging times

By Joel Crews and Marjorie Troxel Hellmer

Since 2006, the last time M&P’s Salary Survey targeted companies with annual sales of more than $100 million, M&P acquired MEAT PROCESSING magazine and its circulation list, thereby bolstering the number and quality of respondents with larger companies. The results reflect what we believe to be the most accurate results in the survey’s 23-year history. For starters, this year’s data indicates a significant increase in participation, with results representing 237 respondents, compared to 184 in the 2006 survey when we last polled large companies. Among them, nearly 41 percent of respondents work for companies employing more than 1,000 workers and approximately 46 percent of them are with companies where annual sales are $1 billion or more. Approximately 72 percent of the respondent’s said their companies slaughter and 99.5 percent reported their firms are further processors.
